On November 17th, 2011, there was a rally at the Thompson Center as part of the National Day of Action in Chicago. Pre-arranged speeches took place for a half an hour, after which the demonstration marched to a LaSalle Street bridge. The protest then marched to the heart of the financial district, at Lasalle and Jackson. Our initial estimation was 500-700 people but local news sources estimate over 1000. The crowd was representative of all ages, ethnicities and genders and was predominantly working class. The RCP, PLP and Socialist Action were all present, as were AFL-CIO affiliates and the American Party of Labor.
